These vintage Japanese freshwater rice pearls come from historic stock associated with Lake Biwa, Japan’s primary freshwater pearl-producing region during the mid-20th century. Each pearl retains its natural rice shape and subtle variation, shaped by freshwater and time.

We work exclusively with existing pearls from ethically sourced Vintage Japanese Stock, rather than contributing to modern extraction. Exact farm records are no longer available, so we reference the historical region rather than a specific producer.
